MEMBERSHIP
The main objective of SAMIRO is to promote the development of the insect mass rearing industry in Southern Africa, and to enhance and support a sustainable industry that acts responsibly within the food chain.
SAMIRO will achieve these objectives with the support of all member companies and their commitment to feed and food safety.
An industry Code of Conduct will be developed to address the principle of feed safety and responsibility in the agri-food value chain, and all Full Members and Associate Members of SAMIRO will be required to maintain continuous compliance with the SAMIRO Code of Conduct in order to maintain their membership in good standing.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Registered companies and private persons active in the insect mass rearing industry can apply for SAMIRO Membership under the following categories:
SAMIRO MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
Full Members:
Entities which produce or process mass reared insects.
Cost: R 2 500 per year
Associate Members:
Entities which do not directly produce or process mass reared insects but trade in insect based products or supply insect related technology and consulting services to industry.
Cost: R 1 500 per year
Affiliate Members:
Students, non-governmental organizations or grass root organizations who are interested in the insect space and/or actively promote insect mass rearing.
Cost: R 500 per year
All fees will apply until 31 Dec 2023
